Charm meets grandeur at Jade Estate Inn, a home that has been stopping traffic on its corner of a quiet Allegan neighborhood since 1863. Go ahead and admire the tall doors, high ceilings, and rich details of a day gone by, but the owners want you to make yourselves comfortable in any of the bed and breakfast’s six beautifully appointed rooms and the spacious common areas and gardens.

The Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail runs primarily along the Lake Michigan Shore with tributaries inland to Fennville, Paw Paw, and almost to Kalamazoo. Making Jade Estate in Allegan your home base allows you to choose your route for an unhurried afternoon of tasting wines produced by award-winning vintners along the North, Central, East or South arm of the trail.
The closest wineries to Jade Estate are Warner Vineyards and St. Julian Winery in Paw Paw, 20 minutes away, and Fenn Valley Vineyards and Modales Wines in Fennville, 30 minutes away.
Schaendorf Brewing Co. produces a rotating list of craft beers made on-site in their classy, renovated space downtown. Tantrick Brewing Co., also family-owned, rotates its taps with various IPAs, stouts, lagers, ales, and hard ciders.
Family-run Schaendorf Brewing Co. favors locally produced meats, including beef from their own cattle, and the emphasis on local foods prepared well accounts for a large percentage of its five-star reviews. Walk there from Jade Estate in less than five minutes. The Grill House, two-and-a-half miles away, offers a popular grill-your-own experience. Billing itself as a “rustic American eatery,” Fennville’s Salt of the Earth, 20 minutes away, is all about farm-to-table and scratch-made foods. Nearby, Root Cafe Coffeehouse & Spirits, an eclectic eatery with foods from nearby and around the world, draws foodies from Chicago and Grand Rapids. If you’re taking a day trip to Grand Rapids or Kalamazoo, ask the innkeepers for their dining suggestions. Both towns have excellent options.
Check-in begins at 3pm at our adults-only Southwest Michigan bed and breakfast. Information is provided in the Reminder email that a guest receives closer to the check-in date. Please have this information handy when you arrive. Entry into the inn is at the Main Entrance off of the large wrap-around porch at the front of the house. Use the walkway from the parking lot to walk around the house to the front Main Entrance. Check-in is informal. An innkeeper will be on the premises between 3p and 6p to tend to your needs.
Check-out time is 11am. Any time after 11am will incur an automatic late check-out charge of $45 to the credit card on file, unless you have a formal late check-out upon booking.
Cancellations must be made via email or phone call. Cancellations made up to 14 days before your arrival date will result in a full refund of your deposit, less a $25 administrative fee per room, per night. Cancellations within 14 days of arrival date will result in the forfeiture of your deposit (50% of total reservation. Cancellations with less than 72-hour notice or no-shows, are charged 100% of the entire reservation.
All bookings will be charged 50% of the entire stay and all additional packages purchased at the time of booking. The remaining balance will be charged as early as 3 days prior to your booked date. Packages are not refundable as we invest in the package before you arrive.
Whole-House (5-6 Rooms) bookings require a 50% non-refundable deposit. Cancellations made within 30 days of the arrival date will be charged the remaining 50% balance.
Smoking of any substance is not permitted inside the inn. Smoking may only be done outside, 20 feet away from the inn. A smoking cleaning fee of $350 will be charged automatically if this policy is not followed. We encourage adherence to this policy.
Pets are not allowed at our romantic, historic Michigan inn due to the antiques within the Inn’s public rooms and guest rooms and for the sake of your fellow guests.
We trust our guests will leave our keys with us. Should a guest take the key and not send it back, the card on file will be charged a $100 replacement fee. This fee is to cover the cost of replacing the antique handle and the key. In all cases, we would rather have the key returned by the guest.
Many of our guests are visiting for a romantic stay and there are delicate, breakable items throughout the house, so this inn only accommodates ages 18+. Otherwise, you will incur an automatic charge of $150 per child. We encourage your adherence to this policy.
Room rates (inclusive of breakfast) are based on double occupancy only.. We cannot accommodate more than two guests in a room. Otherwise, you will incur an automatic charge of $150 per extra person. We encourage and appreciate your adherence to this policy.
