About Inn at Old Orchard Road

At the Inn at Old Orchard Road, birds and bunnies will share your enjoyment of this 1906 Dutch farmhouse in its fresh, green neighborhood just fifteen minutes from charming downtown Holland.

Guests are welcomed as friends at the back door, which opens onto a spacious patio and a path leading to a gazebo where guests love to hang out and to a fountain that is the centerpiece of the landscaped backyard.

Three comfortable guest rooms on the second floor offer queen beds, private baths with showers, cable TV, air conditioning, and WiFi. One also has a claw foot tub.

Enjoy “wake-up” coffee or tea service, then a full breakfast.

In addition to exploring downtown Holland, guests often visit Hope College, Saugatuck (10 miles away), and Lake Huron beaches. Open all year.

Innkeeper Betsy DeWaard

A Little Bit Of History

This sturdy Duth farmhouse, built in 1906, sits where it once was profusely surrounded by brilliantly blooming gladiola and mum plants. Flower farms were almost indigenous to the area and traces of the old foundation for the bulb and seed storage building are still in evidence today. Purchased in 1973 by present owner, Innkeeper Elizabeth “Betsy” DeWaard, the house had withstood the presence of many large families and although very strong, was in disrepair. Thus began a long rejuvenation project. In May, 1997, after Elizabeth retired from 35 years of teaching, it opened as a Bed and Breakfast. And once again, the house was filled with many wonderful people. Come stay and breathe in cool lake breezes from the quaint front porch while relaxing on antique wicker furniture. Or head for the spacious patio, rustic gazebo or refreshing fountain. Wherever you relax in the back yard, a choice of sun or shade is always yours. Birds and rabbits will welcome your presence on nearly an acre of fresh greenery.

UNIQUE EXPERIENCES AT Inn at Old Orchard Road

Adventure

The area around Holland offers one of Michigan’s most extensive networks of paved trails. You could hike or bike around Lake Macatawa. Holland State Park and our city parks are served by trails. Or take the Beeline Trail to Saugatuck 11 miles to the southwest. Or head for Grand Rapids; trails go there, too. And you can start right outside our front door.

Culture

Holland was founded by Dutch Americans and still has a high percentage of people with Dutch ancestry. The town celebrates its Dutch ancestry, and not only during its famous Tulip Time in Holland Festival every May. Year-round Dutch heritage attractions include Windmill Island and Nelis’ Dutch Village.
