Find a hotel, cabin, cottage or bed and breakfast in Bay City, Michigan

Bay City, in Northeast Michigan, sits at the bottom of Saginaw Bay on the banks of the Saginaw River. Given its close proximity to Detroit (just 1.5 hours away), Bay City’s bed and breakfasts are ideal spots for weekend getaways from the city. Outdoor activities abound here year round, and arts and culture flourish. There is always something interesting and fun to do in Bay City, Michigan.

Bay City loves a festival, and no occasion is too small to celebrate. Book a room in one of our bed and breakfasts during the largest Polish Festival in Michigan (June), the Bay City Air Show (August), the River of Time Historical Reenactment (September) and the Bay City State Recreation Area Winter Festival (February). Come into town for the Holiday Parlour Tour (December), the Lunafest Film Festival (February), and the Cheesetown Festival Weekend in June.

When there isn’t a festival on land, there is usually something fun happening on the waters of Lake Huron, Saginaw Bay, or the Saginaw River. Take a “Legends of the Saginaw Sail” on the Saginaw River and listen to fascinating tales by local historians.Take a dinner Cruise on Saginaw Bay. Charter a fishing cruise on Lake Huron. Ask the bed and breakfast innkeepers about their favorite ways to get out on the water.

One of the largest freshwater coastal wetlands on the Great Lakes is Tobico Marsh, home of the Bay City State Recreation Area. There are miles of hiking trails through here, and trails open to biking and cross-country skiing as well. This is an excellent spot for bird enthusiasts, especially during migratory seasons.

Seven Michigan Lighthouses line the coast of Saginaw Bay, several of which are open to visitation. Fall is a perfect time for scenic drives to the lighthouses when the foliage turns to gold, red and orange. Start the day right at one of our bed and breakfast with, what else, breakfast. Make sure to visit all the Michigan Lighthouses of Saginaw Bay.
