It’s an easy hour drive north to the Manistee National Forest. Numerous trails traverse the forest, offering many opportunities for hiking, skiing, and snowmobiling. The North Country Trail, which stretches from North Dakota to New York, passes through the Manistee National Forest. Ask the bed and breakfast innkeepers if they know the best spot to access the North Country Trail, then head to the wilderness.
