Mount Pleasant is in the center of the Lower Peninsula, in southern Northeast Michigan. It is about 90 minutes northeast of Grand Rapids and 2 hours northwest of Flint. There are many festivals and fun activities in Mount Pleasant throughout the year; make a home away from home in a Mount Pleasant bed and breakfast, and come for them all.
The Saginaw Chippewa Tribal National Pow Wow is held each August. It features authentic and delicious Native American foods, arts and crafts. Sit back and enjoy music and dancing, and benefit from a long tradition of storytelling. Be sure to reserve a bed and breakfast early for this event.
Other events include Le Tour de Mont Pleasant, which in the spirit of the Tour de France brings professional cyclists to town for a race; the Michigan Story Festival fills the town with two days of storytelling in all forms. The year wraps up with a Dickens Christmas, with horse-and-carriage rides through beautifully lit streets and a live nativity scene.
There are good half-dozen golf courses in and around Mount Pleasant. Ask the innkeepers of Mount Pleasant bed and breakfasts about the different courses, or simply plan to play them all. Golf on rolling hills, near wetlands, and on challenging short courses – it’s all here.
Mount Pleasant is also close to Cadillac, Roscommon and Gladwin State Forest Areas. This means there are miles of hiking, skiing and snowmobile trails for guests of bed and breakfasts to explore. In the fall, take to the woods to be surrounded by glorious foliage. In the summer, look forward to relaxing on comfortable porches after a day of activity, and in the winter recovering from the cold in front of a roaring fire.
