- Nichol’s Arboretum Trail- Discover this 2.7-mile loop trail popular for birding, hiking, and running, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of the day. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime.
- Furstenberg Nature Area and Gallup Park Trail Loop—This 3.0-mile loop trail is popular for birding, hiking, and biking.
- The Matthaei Botanical Gardens Trail is a paved hiking and biking path that connects the University of Michigan Matthaei Botanical Gardens with a network of trail systems throughout the area. The trail provides an important non-motorized link from the botanical gardens to Washtenaw County’s Parker Mill Park to the south, with connections to the regional Border-to-Border Trail, the local Gallup Park pathway, and beyond.

“I have two lovely shops just around the corner from the Burnt Toast Inn. One is Jefferson Market, and the other is The Argus Store, a Farm to Shop store. Also, I must mention three wonderful ice cream shops minutes from my inn. Washtenaw Dairy, which is most likely at least 40 years old. Then there is The Blank Slate, which has exotic, wonderful, in-house flavors. There are always long lines, and they are so popular. Then, there is Kilwin’s chocolates and ice cream shop up the street on Liberty.”
