Natural Wonders

Many B&Bs are near treasured natural wonders in Michigan

The purest of Pure Michigan experiences is to witness the beauty of Mother Nature — dunes, sunrises, mountains, forests, lakes, and cliffs — but did you know that so many natural wonders in Michigan are located near equally beautiful bed and breakfasts?

Let’s take our fine Upper Peninsula #MichBnB inns. Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is 90 minutes from Big Bay Point Lighthouse B&B, overlooking Lake Superior. And Dapple-Gray B&B overlooks Lake Superior at the tip of the always-picturesque Keweenaw Peninsula.

Lower Michigan is also loaded with natural beauty and nearby B&Bs to make your home base.

All B&Bs listed in Glen Arbor, Empire, and many in Traverse City are near Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Or make a day trip from inns in Onekama or Manistee. Sleeping Bear gets all the publicity, having once been voted the “most beautiful place in America” in a nationwide contest. But…

…they aren’t the only dunes on Michigan’s west coast:

Silver Lake Sand Dunes Area is equidistant from Whitehall and Ludington, towns with several quality-assured B&Bs.

With 2.5 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline and dunes over 200 feet tall, Saugatuck Dunes State Park attracts many people staying at B&Bs in Saugatuck, Douglas, Holland, and Fennville, among other towns with welcoming bed and breakfasts.

Nearly 2,000-acre Warren Dunes State Park is close to B&Bs in St. Joseph, Union Pier, and South Haven and within an hour or less of bed and breakfasts in Niles and Three Rivers.

Forests, rivers and wildlife, anyone? Bed and breakfasts in Oscoda, East Tawas, and Grayling are adjacent or surrounded by them.

Even close to more populated cities like Grand Rapids and Flint you’ll find natural wonders in Michigan that are at your doorstep when you stay at a B&B.
