Frankenmuth: Known for its Bavarian charm, Frankenmuth is home to delicious German cuisine and unique shopping. The drive from St. Johns to Frankenmuth is slightly over an hour east. Here are some of our favorites:

  This Bavarian-themed shopping complex features over 40 unique shops and attractions, including a fantasy-themed enclave and seasonal decor.
•  Bavarian Belle Riverboat
  Take a relaxing cruise on the Cass River aboard the Bavarian Belle, a paddlewheel riverboat that offers narrated tours of Frankenmuth. 
• Frankenmuth Historical Museum
  Learn about the town’s rich history and Bavarian heritage through interactive exhibits and displays.
•  St. Lorenz Lutheran Church
  This historic church, founded by the town’s original settlers, is a beautiful example of Bavarian architecture.
• Frankenmuth Aerial Park For adventure seekers, this aerial park offers ziplining and ropes courses set among the trees.
• Michigan Heroes Museum
  This museum is dedicated to honoring Michigan’s military and space heroes and features exhibits on the state’s contributions to various wars and space exploration.
•  Grandpa Tiny’s Farm

 Grand Rapids: Explore the Gerald Ford Presidential Museum, Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, and a thriving craft beer scene. Grand Rapids is an easy drive on 96W, taking you just a little over an hour drive.  Not to be missed is the fall art celebration- ArtPrize, which runs from mid to late September every year.

•  Grand Rapids Art Museum Visit this contemporary art museum in downtown’s heart. It features a diverse collection of works by local and international artists.
•  John Ball Zoo A family favorite, John Ball Zoo houses over 1,000 animals and offers interactive experiences like zip-lining and a ropes course.
•  Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum
  Through exhibits, artifacts, and interactive displays, visitors can learn about the life and legacy of the 38th President of the United States.
•  Downtown Market This bustling market features a variety of food vendors, a rooftop greenhouse, and cooking classes. It’s a great place to sample local cuisine and shop for unique goods.
•  Brewery Tours Grand Rapids is known as “Beer City, USA,” it offers numerous brewery tours, during which you can sample craft beers from local breweries.
• Blandford Nature Center
  Enjoy the great outdoors at this nature center, which offers hiking trails, wildlife exhibits, and educational programs.
•  Millennium Park
  One of the largest urban parks in the country, Millennium Park features a beach, splash pad, and miles of hiking and biking trails.
