Intimate. Historic. Timeless.
Visitors to Plymouth, Michigan, and other northwest Detroit suburbs find Robyn’s Inn an ideal combination of luxury, charm, privacy, and convenience. While the inn remains an architectural showpiece from a bygone era, a modern sensibility and array of amenities await your arrival.
The renovated and redesigned bed and breakfast offers five guest rooms and suites with a maximum occupancy of ten. On the second floor of the main house are three queen-bed rooms, each with its own bathroom featuring custom showers and heated floors. The carriage house offers two light-filled, second-floor suites, each with a king bed, fireplace, sitting area, balcony, private entrance, reserved garage parking, and more. The suites’ attached bathrooms both have custom showers; the Lark Suite’s bathroom features a soaking tub.
Start the day off right with French press coffee, a slice of quiche, and a seasonal parfait, all served on the inn’s beautiful china.
The Queen Anne Victorian home was built in 1903 by Dr. Harrison Nichols as a gift to his bride. It was their home for three decades until Mrs. Nichols’s death. The home changed hands several times before first becoming a bed and breakfast in 1995.
With a location only six miles from the intersection of I-275 (running north-south in Detroit’s western suburbs), M-14 to Ann Arbor, and I-96 to Detroit, Robyn’s Inn is close to most places in northwest Metro Detroit.
Nestled in Wayne County, Plymouth, Michigan, is a delightful blend of small-town charm and vibrant community life. Just 27 miles northwest of Detroit and 18 miles northeast of Ann Arbor, this picturesque city offers a perfect escape for those seeking a mix of relaxation and adventure.
Start your journey in downtown Plymouth, where the historic Penn Theatre stands as a testament to the city’s rich cultural heritage. This iconic movie theater has been entertaining residents and visitors for over 80 years, offering a unique cinematic experience that transports you back in time.
At the heart of downtown lies Kellogg Park, a beautifully maintained green space perfect for a stroll or a relaxing afternoon. The park is a hub of activity, hosting numerous events throughout the year, including live music, seasonal festivals, and the renowned Art in the Park fair. Don’t miss the stunning fountain, a centerpiece that adds to the park’s charm.
Plymouth is easily accessible by car, with convenient routes from nearby cities like Dearborn and Ann Arbor. Whether you’re planning a day trip or a longer stay, Plymouth’s blend of history, culture, and community spirit makes it a must-visit destination in Michigan.
Less than a mile from Robyn’s Inn, Hines Park Trail offers 17.5 miles of asphalt along the Rouge River for bicycling, inline skating, and walking. Parts of this linear-park trail are directly adjacent to Hines Drive, others so close to the river that flooding is an occasional problem. With a two-mile connector at the south end called the Rouge River Gateway Greenway, you can travel on the trail from Northville, five miles north of Robyn’s Inn, to a trailhead on Michigan Avenue in Dearborn, home to The Henry Ford (see Historic Charm, above). Edward N. Hines (1870-1938) deserves everyone’s gratitude for having originated the idea of painting a stripe to separate two lanes of a highway.
From the Hines Park Trail, you can connect to the paved, 33-mile I-275 Metro Trail.
The Rouge River got its name through a mapmaker’s error; the original name was Rogue River. Once heavily polluted, the river has benefited greatly from improved environmental standards for municipalities, farming, and industry, along with sustained public-private efforts to clean it up. A Rouge River Water Trail is in the process of being created. Google to learn what areas are open for paddlers. One interesting stretch, only a mile or two, lets you explore the historic, still-used industrial area south of Dearborn where the Rouge River meets the Detroit River. You’ll pass the famous Ford Motor Company’s River Rouge Complex and are likely to see a Great Lakes Freighter unloading raw materials.
Wooded Newburgh Lake, adjacent to Hines Park, known for fishing, offers silent water sports as well as access for small boats. The launch is only 10 minutes from Robyn’s Inn.
